For more than 25 years, PVWPC club has quietly supported athletes through full or partial dues assistance, tournament fee support, and helping families during challenging times. This tradition of stepping in when a player needed it most has always been at the heart of who we are. Today, we are proud to formalize that commitment through the establishment of the Shannon Keene Scholarship Fund, ensuring that this legacy of support continues for generations to come.

About
At PVWPC, we believe water polo should be accessible to every athlete who wants to play. No one embodied this belief more deeply than Shannon Keene.
Shannon was more than a parent to two exceptional water polo players, she was a constant source of support, encouragement, and community for countless athletes and families. For parents new to the sport, she was a trusted guide. For athletes struggling to find their footing, she was a champion. Shannon showed up for everyone, every time.
She never let anything stand between a player and their opportunity to participate. She offered her time, her resources, her home, and her heart. If a player didn’t have a ride, she organized carpools, often driving far out of her way without hesitation. If an international athlete needed housing, her door was open. She translated, she fundraised, she volunteered, she cheered. Even when her own children weren’t in the pool, she was in the stands, supporting every athlete as if they were her own.
Shannon loved this sport, and she loved this community. She led with generosity, with passion, and with an unwavering commitment to lifting others up.
Today, we are honored to announce the Shannon Keene Scholarship Fund, created to celebrate her enduring legacy. This fund reflects everything Shannon stood for: access, opportunity, and wholehearted support for every athlete who dreams of playing.By contributing, donors can help carry forward Shannon’s legacy, empowering future players, easing financial barriers, and ensuring that every child has the chance to fall in love with water polo just as she helped so many before them.
Her love for this sport, her belief in this community, and her refusal to let anything stand in the way of a young athlete’s dreams will never be forgotten.
A LEGACY OF HEART.
CARRIED FORWARD.

How we support one another...
FULL OR PARTIAL MEMBERSHIP DUES
Each year, we provide an average of five full scholarships and five partial scholarships to help families cover monthly club dues.
TOURNAMENT + CLINIC FEE SUPPORT
When possible, we help bridge the financial gap for athletes by offering support for tournament fees, travel costs, and skill-building clinics, ensuring players can pursue every opportunity to grow.
COMMUNITY SUPPORT
Our commitment goes beyond finances. We connect families with others in their area for carpools, rides, and broader support, helping every athlete feel included and equipped to participate.

Accountability
We have established a Scholarship Committee that will oversee the distribution of scholarships and aid. Establishing a dedicated bank account for the Shannon Keene Scholarship Fund to ensure that all donations are collected, managed, and distributed responsibly, will keep your donations separate from the regular funds and donations to the club. Scholarships will be awarded and used to help athletes cover monthly club dues or to support water polo opportunities as they arise, ensuring that financial barriers never stand in the way of a player’s growth and participation.
To Donate
*Your donation is processed through Zeffy, a nonprofit platform that charges no fees, so every dollar directly supports our athletes. You’ll receive an automatic tax receipt from Zeffy for your records.
